The end of engineering understanding?

Audio DesignLine

I'm not prone to "chicken little" thinking, but recently I've had some very disturbing conversations with engineers at a number of companies. If the consensus is to be believed we're all about to become ignorant of the inner workings of our basic technology.

The bottom line is that audio engineering technology knowledge is at risk for the working engineer because audio is becoming a series of off-the-shelf commodities.

How do you combat the problem? You can comment in the Advanced Audio Forum - in the "Ubiquitous Audio" thread.
